Humble Belle's Amazing Success

She may remain Humble – but to music fans around the World she is the Belle of the ball.

The part time nanny from Holloway, who turned down a major record deal when label bosses tried to change her music, is dominating the charts at unsigned artist site – amazingtunes.com

Singer songwriter Belle Humble has no less than three tunes in the site’s first published Top Ten.

The 26-year-old, being feted as the new Kate Nash or Amy Winehouse, has spent years amassing performance experience and writing new fresh material.

“I am still shaking” Said Belle.

“I picked up a paper last week and read about amazingtunes – and knew straight away that this is what I had been waiting for.

“When I got home that night I uploaded a few tracks to see how they would get on and before I knew it the phone was ringing to say that they had made it in to the charts.”

Londoner Belle worked as PA to a PR company boss – but decided that she couldn’t let her dreams of musical success die.

“My boss totally stressed me out.” Said Belle.

“Whenever she left the office I would start writing music or jot down some lyrics. It was the only way to stay sane in that environment.

“I was offered a record deal in Canada – but the label execs were adamant that they knew best. They wanted me to change this and that, alter my look, meddle with my music.

“At the end of the day I thought why don’t they get a shop window mannequin to mould. They didn’t really want me at all!”

Belle’s tracks, ‘ I Coulda Had You Last Nite’, ‘Do You Know and ‘Maraschino Cherry’ are seventh, third and second respectively in the amazingtunes chart.

More than 3,500 artists have uploaded tracks since the site went live last week.

Founder Paul Campbell, a musician who decided to help show the music industry a better way of working – and to help talent bypass the record industry - spent more then three years developing the technology to help make it happen.

“Belle’s success will inspire thousands of others out there - who have the talent but will either be ignored or ravaged by the record industry.”

The ‘fair trade’ music site, which pays seventy per cent of download revenues to the artists that make the music – allows listeners to explore and share new music free of charge. They only pay a small fee if they want to download a track.
