I've loved good pop songs ever since my dad bought me a wind up gramaphone when I was three years old (a long time ago). Then, as I grew up, it was the Beatles, The Kinks and Motown that really got me going. The first solo star I became intrigued by was David Bowie and that kept me going all the way thru to punk. A lot of punk music was hopeless (which was kind of the point) but I really liked Ian Dury, The Modern Lovers,Costello and later Madness, The Pogues, and the wonderful Dexys. The only other things of real interest for me in the 80's were The Waterboys and The Smiths. Into the 90's I quite liked the Brit Pop thing but kind of felt I'd heard it all before. Besides, whoever heard of a music cult named after an award ceremony! These days I listen to everything I can. I don't care who sings it as long as it's a good song.
