Control Freaks! is about the UK government's policy on the National Identity Register and the draconian ID card system they want to implement to every UK citizen. Our Uk government's appalling track record of losing sensitive and personal data, how can they be trusted with keeping our ID information on the National Identity Register database in safe hands? They can't. This government even wants to go as far as finger printing ALL school children and compulsory extraction of DNA from every new born baby WHY? They might as well stick a microchip in us all and have done with it! I find this quite sinister and very disconcerting. This government displays a cynical and deep mistrust of every body in the UK. They are treating every hard working UK citizen, child and baby as a potential suspect not an innocent person. If they succeed in implementing this then we can kiss good-bye to our privacy, freedom and any remaining civil liberties. As one Lord Stoddard of Swindon, a cross bencher, said; "ID cards are among several government policies that are undermining freedoms built up over many centuries". Not one member of the House of Lords spoke in favour of national ID register, or the biometric database, they all uniformly denounced the idea as backwards looking and dangerous.
