I have always wanted to sing and perform on stage. In my pursuit, I was initially operatically trained at the age of 14years. I then joined the Weekend Arts College in Hampstead, where I studied Jazz vocals, Jazz, Ballet, Tap and Contemporary dance. At WAC all the students are encouraged to perform, so I got my first live performance experience there. I was also asked to assist teaching vocals and drama for the younger students. Since then I have continued to teach vocals privately. Since finishing my degree in performing arts, my focus was on finding my own sound. I was at a loss until I heard artists like Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu, as my Jazz influences like: Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn have such dated sounds. The former artists showed me how to contemporise Jazz music and gave me a pathway of sound to follow and personalise. I have recently completed my debut album called: ‘Mellowdrama’ and have been showcasing the e.p. so am looking for management to take my career a step further. As a young Jazz artist from Britain, I know it’s going to be hard to survive in this Pop world, but I am determined to be the best I can be and spread positive messages to all who want to listen.
Influences: All above artists as well as...Omar, Cassandra Wilson, Luther Vandross, Paul Weller, George Michael, Miles Davis, Louisa Marks, Debra Glasgow, Rose Royce...just too many to mention.
