Bio

The Stantons are a septet who play music on country instruments. Since their first show at Tigerfest in 2006 they've played with the likes of Monica Queen, The Well, Southern Tenant Folk Union, Blueflint, The Wynntown Marshals, Phoebe Kreutz, The Folk and Fourteenhours, gracing stages at Tigerfest, Stockbridge Festival, Leith Festival and El Rancho Relaxo. Their songs have been featured on Radio 1 (on Vic Galloway's Back Of The Net segment) as well as Leith FM, XFM and Three From Leith. Their debut album, Welcome To Stanton Country, is out now. "Smooth pastoral harmonies and delectable hillbilly acoustics...like the soundtrack to a black and white western, this banjo-led ensemble turns melancholic pondering into a gloriosuly effusive art form" The Skinny. "Their motto might well be the lyric 'the blue of your eyes disguises the black of your heart'...it's the country of the deep south (and I'm not talking Portobello) that pervades this rather wonderful debut album- from the deathly slow harmonised bluegrass of 'Last Waltz' to the band's signature tune, the show-stopping 'Splinter'."
