http://www.leydesign.50megs.com/nos.htm Fundamentally electronic, with an emphasis on 'played' sections rather than 'looped' sections. Mostly all one person composing and performing, with some collaborations mixed in. Very happy to have a way to get these tunes out to a wider audience; they're meant to be listened too, not stashed in a box or a folder! The pieces are all intended as is, with any 'quirks' like static or clicks carefully placed or allowed to exist to enhance the overall sound; likewise accidents are often retained. There is a certain feeling, I believe, in music that is played live, and even more so in music that is being played for the first time, as in being created as its played, that is lacking in over-rehearsed, over-produced recordings. The majority of my songs contain individual sections played without rehearsal along tonal and rhythmic guidelines of varying complexity. Some songs are 'about' the interplay of timbres or the flow of melody/harmony in purely musical interests, while others are direct inspirations of personal events through the poetry of music. please visit www.leydesign.50megs.com/nos/noshome3.htm to learn more about it.
my influences come almost equally from a variety of music- techno like orbital, spirit feel, and photek; classical, especially berlioz and vivaldi; pop/rock in forms like Grateful Dead, Phish, U2, Allman bros, paul simon; hip-hop/beats like DJ Shadow, J5 Mark Farina; jazz in Miles Davis, John Scofield, Jaco Pastorius, Charlie Parker; and stuff from around the world like Lee Perry, Ibrahim Ferrer, Karsh Kale, Ravi Shankar, Lo' Jo. The list is long, theres so much good music out there to be inspired by.
