Redwood House of Music
Bio
The musical adventure of Redwood House of Music began in the summer of 2005, just after Joe Worters finished his first year of University.
Unfortunately, instead of choosing Redwood House of Music for his moniker (a name that he had seen on a 60s design postcard when he was 15) he went for the I’m-so-misunderstood/ I-can-change-the-world-with-my-pretentious-student-views angle and landed on “Boy in a Darkroom.” Fed up with having to explain to everyone that said name was not about a boy festering in a dark room, but about some bloke in a photo developing room, Joe changed names to Redwood House of Music.
Before all of this Joe lived in The Garden of England’s compost heap – Gravesend. There he grew up on a healthy musical diet of The Beatles, Michael Jackson and bizarrely Paul Simon’s Graceland album. At the age of 8 Joe was dragged along to piano lessons, where he continued these until he got bored of playing the same pieces of music at the age of 12.
Fortunately, by the time he was 15, Joe’s music taste had veered away from the monochrome world of Paul Simon and ended up in the multicoloured land of Radiohead and Super Furry Animals.
Whilst at Uni, Joe was introduced to a wide range of incredible music. Most of it was made with strange bleeping noises and electronic drum kits. He liked this idea, so gave it a go himself.
