ARTIST Kathie Touin

Kathie Touin grew up in Southern California and now lives in London. Her two most recent album releases are Butterfly Bones and Soliloquy Deluxe. Butterfly Bones features 15 songs, all composed by Kathie - a deeply personal, occasionally silly, sometimes sweet, sometimes edgy retrospective of events in her life. The music has been compared to Aimee Mann, Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos. Rock'n'Reel magazine said: "Butterfly Bones features a particularly healthy fifteen self-penned numbers... smartly arranged piano-led pieces like the attractive Stop Me, the sparse beauty of Clarity, the ambitious sweep of Only Sky and the unpredictable delight of closer Does It Really Matter." Soliloquy Deluxe is 21 tracks of beautiful piano music including Debussy's Clair de Lune, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, Keith Emerson's A Blade of Grass and three original compositions by Kathie. Kathie began playing the piano seriously at age seven, first learning classical music and then in her teens moving into jazz and rock. She joined her first band at 15, and played in several groups through high school. She attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts and studied composition, arranging, performance, production and engineering. Kathie has also released an album simply titled Christmas - a collection of holiday instrumentals. She is currently working on a new album of her own songs.
