Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire
Bio
Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire hail from Tyneside’s coastal towns of Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. After spending a year gathering local support through impassioned live performances, described by one local music mag as 'effortlessly switching between parent-baiting grunge and contemplative ambient prog', the band released a self titled e.p. which earned them a place on the Unsigned Stage at Leeds Festival as well as the chance to represent the North East at 'In The City' in Manchester.
Staying true to their DIY ethic, ESTLCF joined forces with local independent label ‘Pay For The Piano Recordings’ to release their debut single 'A Fire Born in Dallas' which was produced by ‘iForward Russia!’ frontman Tom Woodhead. The single, described in The Metro Newspaper as having 'post-hardcore and prog influences welded together to create a sound that is both vulnerable and self assured' achieved radio play on Steve Lamacq’s Radio 1 show and Tom Robinson’s BBC 6music show. To capitalise on this exposure, ESTLCF embarked on their first UK tour which was followed up with a string of dates in Poland.
With the addition of a fifth member the band aim to spend the coming year broadening their sound, concentrating on new material to be part of a release being recorded later this year. Early responses have been positive, the new live show being referred to in The Music Magazine as 'reminiscent of Broken Social Scene with a distinctly English indie tinge' and a demo of new song 'The Sea' receiving praise from Tom Robinson on the BBC6 Music Introducing show, stating: "A record like that.. if it got pushed around by the right record label and pluggers and influential people at the NME told us it was alright to like it, it would be all over the 6music playlist like a rash."
