Gretanova; active petitioners for the reunification of North and South Yorkshire, are a popular beat combo named after a junk email for wonk-enlargement pills. Since forming about a two years ago, they have been writing some songs and they are now emerging onto the local gig circuit, like a ten legged behemoth, with a voice more powerful than Shirley Bassey, and a penchant for pointy guitars, Adam Ant t-shirts, and roof insulation products. Although none of the members of this startlingly splendid outfit actually come from South Yorkshire, they are touted by those who have already witnessed live their mix of post-country grunge/punk goodness at such venues as the Boardwalk, as purveyours of the epochal and highly listenable ‘New Sheffield Sound’.
