Little Volcanoes started in 2004 as a four piece band made up of four European musicians who wrote wonderfully eccentric guitar pop music. The lyrics dealt with the day to day lives of people left by the way side in the world race to be conventional. Despite being out of step with current trends they still managed to get some radio play on Xfm with the single 'Can we do it again'. They had their self produced video played by the BBC on the big screen in Central Manchester whilest BBC online reviewed the band playing at the Live Rooms for a HMV/Kerrang Showcase gig in 2006 (see www.myspace.com/littlevolcanoes and find relevant blog). While the band have built up a fan base on it's way through 2005/06 it had to take a break in 2007 due to drummer Jonas Backman being offered session work with Don Felder (Of 70's supergroup fame The Eagles) and resulted in the original line up disbanding to work on other projects. Realising the line up as it stood was over and rather than calling it a day with Little Volcanoes, singer Philip Quinn recruited some new faces to the band and went about writing new material. The band has just finished recording a new E.P. at Inch Studios, Manchester and have played live in session on All FM. Little Volcanoes are now working closely with Anglo/Canadian distribtuion company Divirta and have had serious interest from major labels. With reviews coming up in the near future your going to be hearing a lot more about L/V's.
