DRAGGIN’ ME DOWN Well I wake up in the morning and I’m wearing a smile But you know it only seems to last a short while Just a little later you could bet I’ll be wearing a frown I tried to greet the world with a song of good cheer But I ended up a wondering what I’m doing here It might have been better if I’d never even made a sound AND YOU’RE DRAGGIN’ ME, DRAGGIN’ ME YOU’RE DRAGGIN’ ME, DRAGGIN’ ME DOWN Well I heard that music and poetry I’d swear it gave me wings and it set me free I had to tell the whole wide world ‘bout what I’d found So I picked up a guitar I was a man on a mission In a three chord trick I found a crystal vision I could have swore I was standing on holy ground I’m going down fighting I’ve been fighting all my life Don’t think I’m gonna go peacefully I ain’t gonna go nowhere without a fight Still I put my trust into my art I lifted this torch up high from the start I went out and I sang my song from town to town With this desire to create and my energy and passion I swore nothing would dampen my enthusiasm But you know some things just seem to pound and pound So with a song in my heart and a message of love That might have come straight from the heavens above But right now it seems like hell is where I’m bound And I’m wondering if all my efforts in vain You don’t wanna rise up to no higher plain You’d rather wallow in the sh*t in which you like to roll around
