ARTIST Modern Eulogy

Modern Eulogy was started in 2006 by Matt Williams and Chris Wilkinson as a title under which to record a few songs written by Matt. The resulting tracks then became the demo CD "Positivo/Negativo". The duo performed 2 shows at The Grapes before Chris left to go to University. After this Matt decided to go solo, however keeping the Modern Eulogy alias to allow him to expand the line-up as and when he needed. Between September and December his giging schedule and fanbase increased with each month. Deciding that the sound needed to be fuller, he began playing with a few different bassists and in the end settled on primary school friend Tom Garside (Tommy G). During this time he also recruited Sasha Williams who was singing with country band, "Diamond Spur". This was how the line-up stayed into 2008. In January of the New Year, the band started recording their debut album with Chris Acaster (Arnie) enlisted on drums, who later decided to join the band on a permanent basis. That's the short history of the band (sorry if it bores you) hopefully more will be written in the near future! The story behind the name is that I wanted the abreviation of the band name to be "ME", because I thought it would inject a flash of humour into people's lives if they were talking about going to see me. eg "do you want to come and see ME at the boardwalk", sparking off mass confusion. So I settled on Modern Eulogy. Most songs document an event, emotion or state of mind in the present. This means they are a sort of Eulogy to Modern events as they become the past. (Which sounds a bit pretentious, but oh well) Anyway keep checking back on the space because we may upload some new tunes or add some gigs. Peace out! .
