Right after a tour in Rio and Sao Paulo, MR.D set up shop in Los Angeles a couple of years ago. He has since produced songs with a cast of international musicians, both underground and Top 40, while his latest and most buzzed about project is Tigarah, a duo that is currently making noise in Japan, America and Europe. "Girl Fight!", one of their songs, is featured in the EA games Fifa 2007 and Need For Speed Carbon. Way before MR.D ever became MR.D, he was born Manuel Stagars, a second generation Swiss and enthusiastic piano player. But after winning a couple of local classical piano contests by age 14, he quickly became uninterested in piano when he discovered the world of synthesizers and studio wizardry. In a quest to make music his life, D took on gigs as a DJ all over Europe, where his take-no-prisoners style, a fusion of obscure Hip-hop and Breakbeats paired with catchy melodies, brought him to the attention of film producers and advertising execs looking for a fresh perspective. Before he knew it, D became the go-to producer for the next thing in music, juggling film scoring and songwriting projects for airlines, cell phone companies and makers of soft drinks. And it didn't take long for the labels to knock on his door as well. A brief stint in medical school with the intent to become a surgeon made D realize that his true calling was a career in the music biz and he decided to leave Europe and made the leap of faith across the big pond. Via Brazil, he arrived in America and set up his HQ in Venice, Los Angeles. It was MR.D's ear for hooks as well as his ability to fuse musical genres that quickly earned him respect on the West Coast, resulting in a growing number of songwriting and production credits. To keep himself out of trouble, D is constantly experimenting with innovative and original sounds, in the process reinventing pop music with eccentric beats under fat keyboards - always fresh and dirty. At this moment, he is wrapping up the much-anticipated Tigarah album, out in summer 2007 on Universal... stay tuned!
