Narration stormed into the UK’s consciousness at the end of 2007. Their first publicised London show was at The Fly Bar in December, and reports quickly emerged in The Fly ('Brilliant, trembling car crash romanticism’), Big Cheese ('The world needs more bands like Narration’) and other national forums that this was a band of epic, enduring qualities. Comparisons were made to Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Brand New – and Gigwise said they were more excited by the Twickenham quartet than they had been by Coldplay or Editors. In the last four months, Narration have been out to the States where they performed live on WBRU (one of the East Coast’s most listened to radio stations), won XFM’s uploaded competition with a record number of votes, and laid down new tracks ‘Not Alone’ and ‘Gentle’. Those songs will head the debut release, which you’ll be able to download in June. Before then, the young band will head out on their first UK tour. Mischa Pearlman from Kerrang! has reserved a seat in the tour bus for the first two dates, and those gigs in Manchester and Leeds promise to herald the start of a suitably grand journey.
