Stoneleaf: Andrew Allsopp – Bass, Gary Godridge – Drums, Rick Taylor – Vocals/Guitar. Stoneleaf are a three piece rock band from the North-East of England. They formed in 1998, have released two studio albums and are currently recording material for a third. Their music has been likened to Pearl Jam, Nirvana and various other bands by the national press but Stoneleaf remain a difficult band to pigeon-hole due to their genre spanning music ranging from abrasive punk to sweeping ballads. A recent Rock Midgets review referred to their music as ‘thinking mans anthems’. In 2001 Stoneleaf were awarded the title ‘Best UK Unsigned Rock band’ in a nationwide Sennheiser sponsored competition. Since then the band has toured and played for audiences from the Scottish highlands to Nice, France, in tiny bars to huge festival stages. Their music has appeared on various DVD’s including ‘Cold Rush: A Scottish surfing film’, ‘Sibling Rivalry’ an unauthorised Oasis documentary from Chrome Dreams and a South American surfing film ‘Centro: solo locales’. Earlier this year Stoneleaf signed a management contract with Oceanstorm Films and are currently working on music for the film ‘Hotel Caledonia’. Directed by Nicholas David Lean, Hotel Caledonia is a comedy horror set in Scotland due for release early next year. For more information about the film visit www.myspace.com/oceanstormfilms.
