The Jaayz got together at the end of 2007 as four mates intent on making waves in the local music scene. The band has a shared appreciation for good songs and sounds and subsequently have different tastes in music from soul and funk to hip-hop, rock and pop. These ecclectic influences have given them the opportunity to write songs that are difficult to pigeon hole. The band write about the things that influence us all as human beings; from poverty to greed to the injustice and general frustrations of modern life. These are noticeable in crowd favourite 'Last Chance for Resistance' and new song 'Short Cut Kids.' Ultimately it is obvious that they like to write and play music that will be listenable and relevant in many years' time. They Jaayz aren't outsiders, they're just not influenced by current trends, fashions or what we're told is cool. Although they are cool.
