Way back in the hot summer of 2005, Tom Dickinson, a young guitarist and songwriter who had come to London to seek his fame and fortune, found an add on the internet seeking like minded musicians for a brand new band. Gareth Davies, the singer/songwriter who had posted the ad, had a vision of melding the power of rock like bands such as Muse and Queens Of The Stone Age with a pop edge. Soon the pair were sharing the songs they had written over the years, and in a sweaty Soho practice room began crafting the riffs and pop hooks that would one day become the sound of The Last Disco. The next to arrive was drummer Owen Tetley...at the second rehearsal. He had also responded to one of Gareth's adverts, and his tight rock style, and the loudest snare sound in London were an instant hit with Tom and Gareth. An unnamed trio, we continued to rock hard and write even harder for the next year, perfecting their sound, but all the while searching for the perfect bass guitar player to complete the band, the last piece of the puzzle. Most musicians know that bass players are very hard to come by, and good ones are even harder. At least fifteen auditioned for the but didn't make the grade. Then in late summer, 2007, we finally found what they had been looking for - Paul, a bass player that combined amazing musicianship with a real desire to succeed. The Last Disco is now ready to begin... The band wasn't formed to create a specifc sound or become part of a scene. Instead we draw upon the individual, and varied influences and personalities of each member to create something that cannot be pinned down. From rock pop riffs to melancholic acoustic melodies The Last Disco will take you on a journey.
