How the Shit Sherlocks Came to Be:
Tom Hunt was born in 1871 - shortly after the Franco-Prussian War - to Russian parents. He grew up in Moscow, and harboured a desire to create musical masterpieces from a young age. His mother testified to this in 1897, in her autobiography 'Living In Moscow in the Nineteenth Century': "It is my firm and life-long held conviction that my only son shall have a flourishing career as our motherland's greatest composer."
Under pressure from his father to pursue a degree in Law, he fled to England, where he faked a birth in 1986. He continued to study music, and, with the benefit of a century of theory and application behind him, he was able to advance more quickly than his classmates.
Of the following nineteen years, little is of note.
In 2005, close friends Chris Woolfrey and Simon Messenger began to compose music collaboratively. Their first piece, 'The Abyss of the Birds', was premiered in 1941. After this initial success, they worked on more friendly pieces, some of which are reproduced for you here.
The culmination of this touching story arose in 2007, when Tom Hunt, spiritual heir to the throne of contemporary Russian chamber music, joined with Messenger and Woolfrey to form The Shit Sherlocks.
